Albany man arrested for gun possession after a vehicle pursuit

PRESS RELEASE

Gallatin, New York – On June 3, 2018, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Hector G. Rodriguez, age 30, of Albany, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rddegree, a class A misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor.

On June 3, 2018, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Troopers observed a 2005 Nissan Murano traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Stanford, and initiated a vehicle stop for several infractions of the vehicle and traffic law.  The vehicle failed to obey and led Troopers on a pursuit into Columbia County.  The vehicle exited onto Jackson Corners Road eastbound to County Route 7, and finally onto County Route 11.  On County Route 11 near Green Hill Road in the town of Gallatin the operator lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway.  The operator, Hector G. Rodriguez, was found to be in possession of a loaded, defaced, Hipoint 9MM handgun.

Rodriguez was arraigned before the town of Livingston Court and remanded to Columbia County jail without bail.

A passenger in the vehicle, Shaborn T. Macon, age 24, of Troy, NY, was also held at Columbia County Jail for a New York State Corrections and Community Supervision parole violation warrant.
