Faso Statement on New Steel and Aluminum Tariffs

Washington D.C. – Congressman John Faso (R-Kinderhook) issued a statement following the Trump Administration’s announcement that it will place new steel and aluminum tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and the European Union:

“These tariffs are going to hurt small manufacturers and their workers by raising the cost of their goods. I’ve visited numerous businesses across the district that make products such as aluminum window frames, aerospace components, outdoor furniture parts, and specialty metal components.  All of these businesses will be harmed by the actions taken today. Additionally, these tariffs will invite retaliation against U.S. exports, particularly agricultural exports such as dairy and fruit. This is a short-sighted action which will hurt our economy and sow chaos among our allies and American manufacturers.”
