Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

On May 8, 2018, New York State Police at Liberty charged Jonathan C. Nipitella, 36, of Kiamesha Lake, NY with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop of a white Chevrolet Van for a Vehicle and Traffic violation on Lanahan Road in the town of Thompson. Upon interviewing Nipitella, a glassine envelope containing heroin was observed in plain view.  A second glassine envelope containing heroin was located on Mr. Nipitella.  A DMV inquiry revealed Mr. Nipitella’s driving privileges were suspended for failure to pay fines.

Nipitella was processed and arraigned before the town of Delaware Court.  He was remanded to Sullivan County Jail.
