Two men arrested for drug possession after traffic stop in Claverack

Claverack, New York – On April 28, 2018, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Adrien G. Cadwallader, age 37, of Oneonta, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation, and Ryan W. Belcher, age 31, of Red Hook, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor.

On April 28, 2018, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2004 Jeep Grand-Cherokee on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Claverack for violations of the vehicle and traffic law.  An investigation found Belcher was operating with a suspended license, and in possession of a small amount of cocaine.  Further investigation determined Cadwallader was in possession of approximately 12.5 grams of heroin, 3.8 grams of crack-cocaine, 1.6 grams of cocaine, and 2.8 grams of marijuana.

Cadwallader and Belcher were both arraigned before the town of Claverack Court.  Cadwallader was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail, and scheduled to reappear before the court on May 4, 2018, at 9:30 a.m.  Belcher was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1000 bond, and scheduled to reappear before the court on May 15, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.
