South Fallsburg man charged with DWI and drug possession.

PRESS RELEASE

On April 20th, 2018, New York State Police out of the Wurtsboro barracks charged James T. Paterson of South Fallsburg, NY with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

On April 20th, 2018, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Troopers stopped a Toyota Corolla for multiple traffic violations on Pleasant Street in the village of Monticello. During the course the traffic stop, it was determined that the operator, James T. Paterson, was driving while intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and a search of his person revealed he was in possession of oxycodone. Additionally, the passenger, Tamara M. Churak, was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration. They were transported to the Wurtsboro barracks where they were processed.

Mr. Paterson and Ms. Churak were arraigned in the town of Thompson Court. Mr. Paterson was remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $15,0000,00 bond. Ms. Churak was released on her own recognizance.
