Catskill man charged with Arson 3rd Degree

PRESS RELEASE

On April 8, 2018, New York State Police at Catskill arrested Evan Zenker, age 23, of Coxsackie, NY, on charges of Arson 3rd, a class C Felony, Burglary 3rd, a class D Felony, Criminal Trespass 2nd, a class A Misdemeanor and Resisting Arrest, a class A Misdemeanor.

Zenker was arrested subsequent to a structure fire at a barn which also damaged a vehicle at 73 Cold Spring Rd in the town of Coxsackie. As a result of the investigation, it is alleged that Zenker broke into the barn and set the fire. A neighbor then observed a subject running from the scene. During the search of the surrounding area by responding patrols, Zenker, who matched the description of the subject who fled the scene, was observed approximately 3 miles away on Green Lake Rd in the town of Athens. Upon being approached, Zenker fled on foot and entered an occupied residence where he was found. He then fought with officers who were placing him in custody.

Zenker was arraigned in the town of Coxsackie Court and remanded to Greene County Jail on $25,000.00 cash or $50,000.00 bond returnable in the town of Coxsackie Court at a later date. State Police were assisted by The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Earlton Fire Dept and The Town of Catskill Ambulance at the scenes.
