Obituary, Alice M. Chase

 

Sharon, CT – Mrs. Alice M. Chase, 88 of Sharon, CT, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 31, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of the late David R. Chase, Sr., who died in 2004.

Alice, born in Pine Plains, NY on July 16, 1929, was the daughter of the late Vernon J. and Minnie (Lawrence) Cookingham. She married David Chase Sr. on January 1, 1950, in South Amenia, NY. A homemaker, Alice also owned a dairy farm with her husband. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking cakes, and apple pies.

Alice is survived by two sons and a daughter: David R. Chase, Jr. (Colleen) of Sharon, CT, Wallace E. Chase and his wife Sheila of Sharon, CT, and Sandra L Chase Pilares of Canton, CT. Alice leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Stephanie Chase of Canaan, CT; Keith Chase (Danielle) of Poughkeepsie, NY; Allison Chase (Matthew) of Dover Plains, NY; Nicole Chase (Garry) of Ashley Falls, MA; Kyle Pilares of Cambridge, MA; Jason Pilares of Avon, CT; Shawn Pilares (Bethany) of Greenwich, CT as well as one great-grandchild, Aiden Chase of Poughkeepsie, NY.She is survived by two sisters, Fannie Place, of Pine Plains, NY and Marion Pedersen of Sharon, CT. She was predeceased by her brothers, Herbert, Melvin, Lawrence, Frank, Walt, Edward and Ernest, and sisters Mildred Baker and Harriet McGhee.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening, April 15th from 5-7PM followed by a memorial service on Monday, April 16th @ 10AM, both at 41 Main St. Sharon, CT. Burial will follow services in the Boland District Cemetery.
