Obituary, William Robert Turner

 

William Robert Turner,64, a life-long resident of Pawling, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY.

Born on December 29, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, NY, Bill was the son of the late Frederick Turner, Jr. and Virginia Conn.  He graduated from Pawling High School in 1972 and received an associates degree in business from Dutchess Community College.

Bill was an electrical contractor for his family business, Turner Electric and Maintenance.

Bill was a twelve-year member of the Dutchess County Electrical Contractors Association, serving as both treasurer and vice-president.  He was a long-time assistant Scout Master and Den Leader, and coached Little League for many years.  Bill was also a long-time member and a deacon of Christ Church on Quaker Hill.

He married Sharon Cunningham on May 10, 1975, in Kent, NY; she survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his two sons, Jared Turner and his wife Kathryn of Sherman, CT and Bryan Turner and his wife Erica of Pawling; his brother Frederick L. Turner III and his wife Nancy of Pawling; his sister Cathy Kessman and her husband Todd of Sherman, CT; his three beloved grandchildren, Chase & Kenzie and Evan; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his grandson, Scott Bryan Turner.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Friday, April 6. 2018 from 4-8 PM.  A funeral service will be held Saturday the 7th at 11 AM at Christ Church on Quaker Hill.  Burial will follow in Quaker Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church or the Pawling Fire Department.
