Obituary, Patricia Mae Nash Glennon

Concord – Patricia Mae Nash Glennon, 72, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at CMC-North East, surrounded by family and friends who were praying with her and singing one of her favorite songs: On Eagles Wings. She bravely fought cancer for several years; even earning the nickname “Captain Courageous”, given by her sister-in-law Elsie Hendricks. A resident of Concord, NC, our mom was born June 7, 1945 in Kingston, NY, the only daughter of the late Arthur Palmer Nash and Frances Mae Dingle Nash. A retired school teacher, our mother earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Mount Holyoke College and her Master’s Degree in Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She finished her graduate coursework in the hospital after giving birth to her fourth son. That’s dedication! After spending 32 wonderful years in Millbrook, NY raising her family, she decided to move down south. She loved being an educator and taught high school, Advanced Placement, and college English and creative writing courses, before ultimately retiring from Back Creek Christian Academy, where she taught elementary and Latin classes, among others. A very intelligent and talented woman, our mother had a beautiful singing voice that she used to spread joy at home, in choral groups, in live theatrical performances on stage for several community theater productions, and in church choirs, including at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she was a faithful parishioner. She also was a talented poet and writer who loved hugs, anything purple, inspiring people, and playing the tambourine like no one else! Most importantly, she was a great mom who selflessly loved and cared for her family that meant everything to her and who will miss her dearly.

Our mom, Patricia, was preceded in death by her husband, our father, John E. Glennon; daughter-in-law,

Susan Glennon, her brother, Peter Nash and her three loving puppies Mysti, Bear, and Blondie. Surviving

family members include her children, David Glennon and his wife Janet of Wilmington, DE, Jeffrey Glennon of Concord, NC, Peter Glennon and his wife Kimberly of Pittsford, NY, Robert Glennon and his wife Mary of Harrisburg, NC, Thomas Glennon and his wife Susan of Wilmington, DE and Amy Patrick and her husband John of Beaufort, SC; her brothers, Dr. Richard Nash and wife Thalia of Canton, NY and Dr. Robert Nash of Virginia Beach, VA; and her 11 precious grandchildren, Madeline, Pierson, Ellie, Walker, Katie, Will, Holden, John, Jack, Tate, and Charlotte.
