Obituary, Frances A. Brown

Frances A. Brown, 90, was welcomed into eternal life on March 21, 2018, reuniting with her husband, James R. Brown.Born in Connecticut to the late William and Freida Turner, Fran grew up in the small Dutchess County Town of Amenia, New York (not be confused with Anemia, she would quickly share.)

Fran relocated to the capital region where she was educated as a Registered Nurse and went on to work with several practitioners including Dr. Gretz and Dr. Tishler of Schenectady until her retirement. Together, Fran and Jim created a beautiful life, a successful business in Clark and Brown Furniture, a community of life-long friends in Scotia, at PineHaven Country Club and during their winter retreats to Myrtle Beach, SC. Fran enjoyed being active and remained so just beyond her 90th birthday party. Fran enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player playing in many groups, including those at Normanside and Schenectady JCC. Recently, she enjoyed bingo and making new friends at the Scotia Senior Center. Fran was an active and honored member of the Scotia United Methodist Church. No matter where she went, Fran was famous for her large, beautiful and bright earrings, always perfectly coordinated with her attire and her beautiful blue eyes. Fran enjoyed beginning each morning with her daily puzzles and calls from her granddaughter and ended each day with her Manhattan, the Wheel, and Jeopardy. Frances was predeceased by her husband, James R. Brown; her siblings, William, James and Madeline and her son, Donald A. Boardwell.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Freedman (Eric) of Cape Coral, FL and Susan McLaughlin of Lighthouse Point, FL; her grandchildren, Tracey Camilli of Latham, Kimberly Bisner (Leticia) of Schenectady and Kevin Bisner (Ryan) of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Megan Camilli, Alyssa Camilli and Shea Bisner-Boulay; beloved nieces and nephews, and her “life lines”, Judith Swain (late Kenneth Swain) and Audrey Cuda; special friend, confidant and infamous cook, JoAnn McClure, and countless friends, many of who became family, from all over the country including, Texas, Kentucky and Myrtle Beach, SC and her four-legged great-granddaughter, Hope.

The family would like to thank “The Village” for the love, support, and comfort they provided to “TuTu”, and continue to provide to Tracey and the girls, to Dr. Dennis Manor for being more than the “General Contractor” of Fran’s cardiology care team, but a caring, trusted partner in maintaining Fran’s prolonged independence and quality of life, and finally to the many caring staff of Glendale Home, particularly her CNAs and Nurse MaryJo, and the Hospice Team, who were a constant source of comfort to her and to Tracey in her final days on earth. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Scotia United Methodist Church, 201 North Ten Broeck Street, Scotia, NY 12302 or The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 S.
