Carmel Man Arrested for Drug Sales

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of Carlos Priego, 22, of Carmel, on felony narcotics sale and possession charges.

In September 2017, a deputy assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that Priego was involved in the sale of heroin and prescription medications in the county. The deputy was able to contact Priego and arrange for the purchase of heroin and suboxone on four separate occasions. On February 15, 2018, members of the NEU took Mr. Priego into custody during a traffic stop, where he was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin.

Mr. Priego, was charged with two felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, two felony counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, two felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, two felony counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, one misdemeanor count of Criminal Possession of a controlled substance in the 7th Degree, one misdemeanor count of Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, and one misdemeanor count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree.

Mr. Priego was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Jacobellis of the Town of Carmel Court and committed to the Putnam County Correctional facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
