Two men arrested in connection with East Fishkill shooting

East Fishkill, New York – On February 25, 2018, the New York State Police arrested Devin B Byers, age 30, of Youngstown, OH, for Robbery in the 1st degree, Criminal Use of Firearm in the 1st degree, both class B felonies, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nddegree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, and Sean T. Peterson, age 28, of Beacon, NY, for Robbery in the 1st degree, a class B felony.

On February 25, 2018, at approximately 2:35 p.m., a good Samaritan flagged down a Trooper on Route 82 and reported a male suffering from a gunshot wound in the Acme parking lot in the town of East Fishkill.  The Trooper rendered medical aid and provided suspect information to surrounding law enforcement. Byers and Peterson were located nearby fleeing in a 2007 Honda CRV and were stopped by a Dutchess County Sherriff’s Office Deputy.  A large quantity of marijuana and a Springfield .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun were recovered.

The victim who suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in stable condition.

Byers and Peterson were arraigned before the town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.

The State Police were assisted on scene by the Dutchess County Sherriff’s Office and the East Fishkill Police Department.
