Expanded Services at the Pawling Library Brings the World to Your Doorstep

By Susan Stone

The Pawling Library houses thousands of books, hundreds of movies, magazines, and audiobooks.  If you are a Pawling, Whaley Lake or Holmes resident, you can access any of these offerings through their Homebound service and have them delivered right to your home. The service is, of course, free, and, according to Circulation Manager, Evelina Simoes, your enjoyment of materials is of paramount importance.  That’s why, when you sign up for this service,  Evelina will schedule an initial home or phone interview where you can discuss titles you’d like to read and areas of interest.  This will help her better understand what titles you might enjoy. Most titles are offered in Large Print and Audio versions.

According to the Library’s website, the lending period for The Pawling Library items through the homebound program is flexible, but materials borrowed from other libraries through interlibrary loan may not have a flexible borrowing period.  However,  Evelina or any one of the helpful library staff can always be contacted about renewing any borrowed materials.

Like everyone at the Pawling Library, Evelina loves what she does, especially when it comes to bringing library services to those who are homebound.  She shared, ” I truly enjoy being able to provide this service to our patrons.  I love seeing their excited faces when I bring them new materials.  The patrons that I see are so appreciative of this service.  They inform me that they never thought they would be able to check things out of the library. The best part of the service for me is seeing how they really enjoy the materials I supply them with.”

Homebound delivery services can be initiated by calling Evelina Simoes at 845-855-3444  or email her at circ@pawlinglibrary.org.   The world awaits!!
