Obituary, Joseph P Ducillo

 

Summerfield, FL – Summerfield, FL, Joseph P Ducillo, formerly of Amenia, NY passed away on 12/27/17 in the comfort of his family.

Born 3/30/28 to the late Peter & Elizabeth Ducillo of Canaan CT, he was an active athlete in baseball and football in high school, and continued to play ball in local leagues as a young man.

He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. On 7/10/53 he married Rae Petty of Dover Plains NY who was called home in 2009. Together they owned and operated several area restaurants, most notably The Brookside. He served as Highway Superintendent & Zoning Administrator for the town of Amenia & was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. In 1993 he & Rae retired to their Florida home where they enjoyed many years together.

Joe loved good food, good music, card games & golf. He loved to tell a joke & did it well. He was easily pleased & never complained. He had a sense of humor & always maintained it. He loved the company of his family & was extremely proud of them all. He is survived by his 6 children & their spouses, 16 grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly. A spring graveside service will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent to 122 Dunckel Road Oxford NY 13830. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
