Dover Plains – Elizabeth Neta Herron, 94, a Dover Plains resident for many years, died on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at New Milford Hospital in New Milford, CT. Born on August 18, 1923, in Eddyville, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Marie (Mooney) Jordan. On August 1, 1946, in Oskaloosa, IA, she married Gerhard James Charles Herron who died in 1990. Mrs. Herron was an occupational therapist at the Kings Park Psychiatric Center in Kings Park, NY and formerly an elementary school teacher in Astoria (Queens), NY and Eddyville, IA. Mrs. Herron was a member of the National Teachers Association. She attended Greater Grace Community Church in Dover Plains, NY.
Mrs. Herron is survived by her son, Gerhard Herron, and his wife, Kathleen, of Millerton, NY and her daughter, Elizabeth Critchley, and her husband, Robert, of Dover Plains, NY; three brothers, Herbert, Ralph and Alan Jordan and three sisters, Betty, Shirley and Allene Jordan and her sister-in-law, Elsie Puglisi. She is also survived by three grandsons, Gary John Herron, Justin John Herron and his fiancee, Sabale Rost, Christopher John Ebaugh and a great-grandson, Hayden Sebastian John Herron and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Witt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains.
