Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a Southeast man on multiple narcotics possession and sale charges.

In December 2017, a deputy assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) developed information that Sulaiman S. Sayegh, age 50, was selling cocaine throughout Putnam County.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) initiated an investigation into Sayegh’s alleged activities, resulting in the purchase of cocaine from him on four separate occasions within the town of Southeast.

On the evening of Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Sheriff’s Office NEU and road patrol/K9 teams located Sayegh operating a vehicle on Putnam Avenue, in the Town of Southeast, and took him into custody. They also recovered cocaine from inside the vehicle which at the time was occupied by a child less than 17 years old.

A short time later, Sheriff’s Office members, armed with a search warrant, seized a quantity of Cocaine, packaging materials, a scale, and over $14,000.00 in cash from Sayegh’s residence on Eagles Ridge Road. Also seized were two vehicles used in conjunction with the sale of the narcotics.

NEU supervisor, Senior Investigator Thomas Corless applauded the efforts of the members of the NEU for their quick actions and successful investigation concluding with Sayegh’s arrest and a halt to his illegal activities.

Sheriff Langley remarked that in addition to the swift pace of this particular investigation it is also one of the largest cash seizures in recent history in Putnam County.

Sulaiman S. Sayegh was charged with four felony counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, five felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, two misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, one misdemeanor Count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, and one misdemeanor count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Sulaiman S. Sayegh was arraigned by the Hon. Judge Richard Vercollone of the Town of Southeast Justice Court and remanded to PCCF on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.
