Livingston man arrested for menacing and endangering the welfare of children following a domestic dispute

Livingston, New York – On January 25, 2018, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Richard J. Staats, age 51, of Livingston, for two counts each of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor, and Menacing in the 3rddegree, a class B misdemeanor.

On January 25, 2018, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a domestic dispute on Deer Haven Road in the town of Livingston.  An investigation determined that Staats menaced and endangered the welfare of a thirteen and a sixteen-year-old victim during the course of the domestic dispute.

Staats was arraigned before the town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $250 cash bail or $500 bond.  Staats is to appear before the Town of Livingston Court on February 1, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.
