Two New Jersey men arrested for possession of a controlled substance

Wappinger, New York – On January 14, 2018, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Luis A. Real Paez, age 36, of Belleville, NJ, and Jonathan Vazquez, age 35, of Newark, NJ, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony.  Real Paez was also arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, and Unlicensed without Operation, both violations.

On January 14, 2018, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop of a 2002 Chevrolet van for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on Route 376 in the town of Wappinger.  During the stop a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle and the operator Real Paez was unlicensed.  Further investigation revealed approximately 3.5 grams of marijuana and approximately 1.25 grams of Ecstasy.

Vazquez and Real Paez were arraigned before the town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.  Their next scheduled court appearance is on January 17, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.
