Obituary, Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Keegan

 

Staatsburg – Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Keegan, 72, a fifteen year resident of Staatsburg, NY formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY died peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY with her loving family at her side. Betty Lou worked as an assembler at Mid-Hudson Workshop in Poughkeepsie for many years and had worked for Nestle USA in New Milford, CT in the production facility. When her daughters were young she was a stay at home mom and homemaker.

Born March 3, 1945, in Danbury, CT she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Lena (Betters) Keegan. Betty Lou was a graduate of Dover High School and attended technical school in Minnesota to further her education as a Laboratory Technician. In January of 1966 at South Dover Methodist Church, she married Maynard Shutts. Mr. Shutts died in 1992.

Betty Lou enjoyed living at Heritage Point and was a longtime member of the Staatsburg Senior Center. She was an avid writer and poet and liked to play Bingo and Mahjong in her spare time. She loved spending time with her loving family and will be dearly missed by everyone.

Survivors include her two daughters; Lisa Davis of Poughkeepsie and Michele L. Sniffen and her companion Charlie Thorpe of Millerton; six grandchildren, Damion Reeder of Highland, NY, Ashley Sniffen of Millerton, Joshua Reeder of Poughkeepsie, KC Sniffen of Poughkeepsie, Haunna Sniffen of Millerton and Audrey Sniffen of Millerton; four great-grandchildren, Piper Sniffen, Andrew Sniffen, Xander Sniffen and Jamie Wagoner all of Millerton and many friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 2-4pm at 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 4pm at the funeral home. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring at Valley View Cemetery, Nellie Hill Road, Dover Plains, NY.
