The New York State Police through aggressive enforcement of the Vehicle and Traffic Law is dedicated to fulfilling its mission of improving highway safety for all users.

In an effort to reduce impaired driving crashes and remind motorists to make responsible driving decisions this holiday weekend, the State Police conducted sobriety road checks at various locations in southern Dutchess County from late Sunday December 31 into the early morning hours of January 1, 2018.

As a result, Jose Reina Santana, age 23, of New Windsor, NY, was arrested for DWI (unclassified misdemeanor) and provided a breath sample indicating .11% BAC.  In addition, four subjects were arrested for the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, one subject was arrested for the violation of Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle and 28 traffic tickets were issued for various offenses.

The New York State Police will continue to work vigilantly year-round in 2018 to keep our roadways safe and prevent the needless tragedies that result from impaired and reckless driving.
