MAN ARRESTED WITH HANDGUN IN HOPEWELL JCT INCIDENT.

BURGLARY SUSPECT APPREHENDED ON PARKWAY.

 

On December 26, at 11:59 am, Officers responded to a complaint that a man was creating a disturbance and threatening employees at a business in Hopewell Jct. Upon arriving, Officers found the man outside the business. Upon investigating, he was found to be in possession of a knife and an unregistered, loaded handgun. Both were worn under clothing, on the suspect’s belt. After disarming the suspect, identified as Jeffery Kimmel, 30, of Wappingers, he became combative and resisted arrest. Kimmel was also in possession of over an ounce of Marihuana.
Kimmel was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a weapon 2nd degree, both Felonies, Criminal Possession of Marihuana 5th degree, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Mischief 4th degree, all Misdemeanors. He was arraigned before East Fishkill Judge Rudner and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond pending his return to East Fishkill Court.

On December 26, at 4:30 pm, Officers responded to an interrupted Burglary at a residence on Beekman Rd in Hopewell Jct. The homeowner reported she came home and a suspect ran from her house carrying property and fled in a car towards the Taconic State Parkway. Officers responded to the area and the suspect’s vehicle was spotted by Detectives going south on the Taconic. The car was stopped at the intersection of I-84 and the suspect was arrested. He was identified as Christopher Videtto, 47, no address given. Further investigation indicates that Videtto was traveling from Massachusetts, passing through East Fishkill when he stopped to break into the victim’s home. This appears to be a random crime with no connections to the victim or the area. Numerous items of property belonging to the victim were recovered.
Videtto was charged with Burglary 2nd degree, Grand Larceny 3rd degree, both Felonies, and Criminal Mischief 4th degree, a Misdemeanor. He was arraigned before East Fishkill Judge Rudner and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond, pending his return to East Fishkill Court.
