Westchester Man Charged With Grand Larceny

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Westchester County man on felony charges of Grand Larceny.

On March 16, 2015, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department received two complaints from the New York Sports Club located at the Putnam Plaza in Carmel, where victims had reported the theft of credit cards and other items from unlocked lockers at the club. On March 17, 2015, the Town of Carmel Police Department received a similar complaint from Gold’s Gym located at the Shop Rite Plaza on Route 52. An investigation by Carmel Police Department detectives and members of the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation revealed that Justin C. Marvin, 35, of 309 Cedar Drive, Briarcliff Manor, New York was responsible for the crimes at both locations. Sheriff’s Department Investigators arrested Mr. Marvin and charged him with two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a felony. Carmel Police additionally charged Mr. Marvin with Grand Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property. Mr. Marvin was arraigned before Town of Carmel Justice Thomas Jacobellis and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $10,000.00 bond pending a future court appearance.If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of at least $5,000.00 for each charge.
