Obituary, Elizabeth Allen Burke Lindstrom (“Betsy”) – The Pawling Daily Chronicle

Elizabeth Allen Burke Lindstrom (“Betsy”), 78, daughter of Robert and Jesse Burke, passed away on December 21st, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Betsy was born in Freeport, NY on January 4, 1939 and raised in Rockville Center, Long Island.   She attended Southside Highschool, graduating in 1956 valedictorian of her class.  She then went to St Mary’s Nursing school where she graduated as an RN in 1959, also top of her class.  She practiced nursing for nearly 40 years, most recently working at Greenhaven Prison.  In December 1959 Betsy married Frank Edward Lindstrom and together they had 5 children: Christina, Frank, Nancy, Jennifer and Anna.   Betsy was an extraordinary mother, a lover of cats, an expert seamstress, an avid gardener, and a die hard Yankees fan.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her daughter, Christina Elizabeth Lindstrom, who died in 1969 and her son, Frank Eric Lindstrom, who died in 2004.  She is survived by her three daughters Nancy Lindstrom Boula of Stormville, NY, Dr. Jennifer Lindstrom of Coxsackie, NY, and Anna Lindstrom of Pawling, NY; three grandchildren Travis, Aubrey, and Trey Boula.  She is also survived by her sister Nancy Burke, who lives in St. Vincent and brother Andrew Burke who resides in Pawling.

Visiting hours will be held December 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.  A funeral service will be held at Christ Church on Quaker Hill on December 27th at Noon and followed by a burial at Quaker Hill Cemetery.  At Betsy’s request, those attending services are encouraged to wear red in celebration of her life.
