South Glens Falls woman arrested for drug possession

Pleasant Valley, New York – On December 1, 2017, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Kayla S. Babus, age 29, of South Glens Falls, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, both class B felonies, Criminal use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation.

Troopers received a call regarding a disabled vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Pleasant Valley from a roadside assistance provider.  Once on scene Troopers shifted their response from assisting a motorist to investigating the possibility of drug possession.  Troopers detected an odor of marijuana and questioned Babus who admitted to possessing marijuana.  Further investigation found approximately 22 grams of cocaine and additional drug paraphernalia.

Babus was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
