Obituary, Robert John Russin

 

Millerton, NY – Robert John Russin, 89, died at his home in Millerton, NY on October 8, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Born April 2, 1928 in Watertown, Connecticut, he was the husband of Patricia Prescott Russin who predeceased him earlier this year. They were married for 67 years.

Bob was a dairy farmer. In 1968 he moved his home farm from Watertown, CT to Millerton, NY where he continued to farm. He retired from the farm business in 1988. His son Jack, continued the family business in Madison, NY.

Bob was active throughout his lifetime in many organizations. He served on Dairy Committee, Hudson Valley Farm Credit Director, and served in local politics as Town Board Member for 12 years and Town Supervisor for two years.

In retirement, Bob and Pat spent time together traveling to different countries such as Australia New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Scotland, England, Wales, Holland, France, Italy, Ireland, and Finland. For hobbies, Bob took care of his gardens. He had a vegetable garden fruit trees and 6 acres of lawn to care for. Bob was a private pilot and loved to be flying in his plane. The one thing he loved more than flying was his family.

Bob is survived by his son, John Robert Russin and his wife, Lesa, of Madison NY, his daughter, Jane Pamela Russin Frank of Poughkeepsie, NY and James Bradford Russin and his wife, Lois, of Sharon, CT. Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Phyllis Ann Russin. Bob is survived by his sister, Bernice Russin Elwood of Watertown, CT.

Bob had four grandchildren: John Scott Russin, Allison Russin Curley, Catlynn Patricia Frank, and Jameason Robert Russin and several great grandchildren: Casey, Sara, Megan, Dylan, Bailey, Caroline, Nathaniel, and Gabriel.

​There are no calling hours. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
