SP Somers – Stamford male arrested for Stolen Vehicle after pursuit

Pound Ridge, New York – On October 2, 2017 at approximately 1:00 AM, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Dereck S. Ramirez, age 16, of Stamford, Connecticut, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class E Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Troopers responded to Lower Trinity Pass Road in Pound Ridge to assist the Village of Stamford Police with a pursuit of a suspect vehicle. Upon arrival Troopers found the pursuit had ended after Ramirez used his vehicle to strike a Village of Stamford patrol vehicle head on. Ramirez was taken into custody without further incident and an imitation handgun (BB gun) was removed from his person. Further investigation determined the vehicle, a red 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, had been stolen by Ramirez in Connecticut.
Ramirez was arraigned before the Town of Pound Ridge Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $1,000 bond. Ramirez is next scheduled to appear before the Town of Pound Ridge Justice Court on October 16, 2017 at 09:00 AM.
