Explosion Reveals Marihuana Growing Operation:

On Wednesday September 6, at 7:18 pm, East Fishkill Fire Department and Police responded to a mobile home located on Moart Lane in Hopewell Jct. for a report of an explosion. Upon arrival, the Officers observed structural damage to the older model mobile home and a strong odor of Marihuana. Neighbors report that the owner’s son had been in the home when the explosion occurred and fled the scene before police arrived. No one reported any injuries in the blast.

There was no fire but an explosion occurring in the kitchen caused the damage. Police also discovered the home was not being used as a residence but rather a marihuana growing and processing operation. The Dutchess County Drug Task Force assisted East Fishkill Police with securing the numerous marihuana plants, products and paraphernalia.

East Fishkill Fire investigators determined the explosion occurred inside the refrigerator, where police suspect Marihuana Wax was being stored or processed. The scene was made safe by the Fire Department.

The incident is still under investigation and no one has been arrested as of this time. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Police at 221-2111.
