Obituary, Dominic Capalbo

 

POUGHQUAG – Dominic Capalbo, 85, born February 11, 1932, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2017.  He joined his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 50 years, Janice, in Heaven.
Dominic was a devoted Catholic who gave much of his time to St. John the Evangelist Church in Pawling. He was a great Notre Dame Football Analyst in the days of Lou Holtz.
Dominic “Papa Bear” was a very loving husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed.  He is survived by his 8 children and their spouses, Stephanie and Bruce Jensen of Durango, CO, Jennifer Ryan Capalbo of Millbrook, Dominic Capalbo III of Poughquag, Anthony and Jean Capalbo of Rhinebeck, Christopher and Cindy Capalbo of Sag Harbor, James Capalbo of Stanfordville, Justin and Sylvia Capalbo of Pawling, and Rebecca Capalbo of Poughquag; his brothers, Rolland Capalbo of Poughquag, Serafino Capalbo of Pawling, and Savario Capalbo of Carmel; his brother-in-law, Raymond Odell of Poughquag; his sisters-in-law, Christine Wild of Mesa, AZ and Tonya Capalbo of Pawling; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Vittorio Capalbo; and his sister, Theresa Swalligan.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Horn and Thomes Inc. Funeral Home.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Church with Rev. John Duff officiating.
