Three Greene County Residents arrested for Burglary

On August 2, 2017, New York State Police at Catskill arrested REGINALD BONNEAU, age 30, and APRIL SMITH, age 18 both from Cairo, NY and JENNIFER HALL, age 33 of Greenville, NY. All three subjects were arrested as the result of an ongoing investigation into recent thefts from area churches. The three defendants are accused of entering numerous churches in Greene County and stealing collection boxes, candles and other property from within.

HALL and SMITH were charged with 2 counts of Burglary in the Third Degree and BONNEAU was charged with 9 counts Burglary in the Third Degree (a Class D Felony). Further charges are pending.

SMITH and HALL were arraigned before Town Justice Miller in the Town of Cairo Court and were remanded to the Greene County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. BONNEAU was arraigned before Town Justice Jacobs in the Town of Catskill Court and was committed to the Greene County Jail without bail.

State Police were assisted by the Greene County District Attorney’s Office, Greene County Probation, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Windham Police Department, the Town of Durham Police Department and the Town of Cairo Police Department. The churches that were burglarized are in the townships of Durham, Greenville, Windham and Catskill.
