Hyde Park woman charged with unlawfully collecting unemployment

Rhinebeck, New York – On August 1, 2017, The New York State Police in Rhinebeck arrested Kaila M. Royster, 28 years old, of Hyde Park, NY, for Falsifying Business Records 1^stDegree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1^st Degree, both Class E Felonies.The investigation indicated that Royster stole over $5590 from the New York State Department of Labor between April of 2014 and October of 2014.  The defendant certified weekly that she was unemployed when in fact she was gainfully employed.

The New York State Police were assisted by the New York State Department of Labor.

Royster was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Hyde Park court on August 10, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
