Obituary, David Scanlon

 

David Scanlon, 68, a 13-year resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017.

Previously of Shrub Oak, Pelham, and Carmel, NY, he was born in New York City on September 29, 1948 to John and Helen (Donohue) Scanlon.  David proudly served in the US Navy from 1969-71. He built a successful career as an independent acoustical ceiling contractor and home builder, working throughout Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties for 40 years.

On June 22, 1997, he married Josephine DeBrino in West Point, NY; she survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Josephine, David is survived by four sons, Thomas (Laura) Scanlon of Somers, NY, Christopher Scanlon of New Rochelle, NY, Kenneth Scanlon of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and David Scanlon of Dover Plains, NY; and his grandchildren, Rebekah Scanlon and Jake & Brady Nolan.

Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Thursday, July 13th from 4-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 14th at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, 59 East Main Street, Pawling.  Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Scanlon may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
