Hugh Madden of Patterson, NY passed away at the age of 75 on July 8, 2017. He was born on February 7, 1942 in Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, Ireland to Thomas and Catherine (McCabe) Madden. On April 8, 1970 he married the love of his life Mary Crowley. Hugh was an entrepreneur and bar owner. He was extremely active in the Emerald Association of Putnam County, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving man whose life revolved around his family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife Mary, three adoring daughters Vicky Meigel, Lisa Michalowski, and Amy Madden. He is also survived by six cherishing grandchildren Rebecca, Lauren and Matthew Meigel, Grace, Jack, and Caitlin Michalowski, his three brothers William Madden, Michael Madden, and Jack Madden and nephew Michael Madden. He is predeceased by both his parents Thomas and Catherine his siblings Thomas, Frank, Margaret, Katherine and nephew Michael Madden.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 11th at 10 Fowler Avenue Carmel, from 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday July 12th at St. James the Apostle Church at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Tribute program.
