Poughkeepsie man charged with sex offense – Update June 9, 2017
Mr. Thatcher is employed as a local attorney, and at this time is accused of engaging in a continual course of inappropriate sexual conduct with a client. In order to protect the victim’s privacy no further details about them or the case will be released at this time. Mr. Thatcher has been charged with 2 counts of Forcible Touching (Misd) – one in the Town of Poughkeepsie and one in the City of Poughkeepsie. After being processed Mr. Thatcher was arraigned before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court, was released on his own recognizance to reappear before the City of Poughkeepsie Court on 5/19/17 and the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on 5/23/17.

*Update to previous releases – 3rd charge in sexual abuse investigation
This is to inform you that on 6/9/17 Mr. Thatcher was charged with one count of an additional offense – Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree, which is a Class D Felony. This charge was brought after another person came forward with information about another incident. This charge is in the Town of Poughkeepsie, and after being processed Mr. Thatcher was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond. At this time a total of seven people have come forward with information relative to incidents allegedly involving Mr. Thatcher, and the investigation is continuing.
As with any criminal case the charges described above are merely accusations and Mr. Thatcher is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
