URI student Brandon Pettit of Patterson named as a 2017 Orientation Team member

KINGSTON, RI (06/01/2017)– The University of Rhode Island recently selected Brandon Pettit of Patterson, NY, and 37 other students to be part of the 2017 Orientation Team. Pettit has been chosen for the Family Coordinator role.

A highly competitive position and unique leadership opportunity, URI’s Orientation Team members serve as ambassadors to incoming students and families. They facilitate workshops and information sessions related to URI’s academics, social environment and culture. The team helps with all aspects of the summer program including academic advising, workshop presentations, and URI’s unique theatrical productions.

The goal of URI’s orientation program is to welcome new students and their families to the University community and to start them along a path to success. The Orientation Team represents URI’s diverse and enthusiastic community of learners.

The University of Rhode Island’s pioneering research extends the University’s influence well beyond its coastal borders, while its unique interdisciplinary courses provide its 16,637 undergraduate and graduate students with global opportunities in an intimate environment. In May 2017, more than 3,300 undergraduate and about 700 graduate degrees were awarded. The University now has more than 120,000 alumni worldwide.
