Obituary, Kathleen C. Healy

 

Millerton – Kathleen C. Healy, 91, a fifty year resident of Millerton, NY formerly of Pine Plains, NY passed on to be with the Lord at her home on the evening of April 10, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Healy worked as a therapy aide at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY prior to her retirement in 1983.

Born September 29, 1925 in Mamaroneck, NY she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Agnes McGeough. After graduating high school she married Thomas Francis Healy, Jr. of Pine Plains on August 13, 1949. The Healy’s lived on the family farm owned by Thomas F. Healy, Sr. until 1967. Thomas F. Healy, Jr. died May 25, 1968. With four growing children to care for, Kathleen continued working at Wassaic Developmental Center for many years.

Mrs. Healy lived a stubbornly strong vibrant life right to the end. She was famous for her Irish wit, her ability to grow the brightest colored flowers, her friendly talkative demeanor, including always answering the telephone with a vibrant “hellooo” and her local volunteer activities. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church in Millerton and more recently of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia.

Mrs. Healy is survived by two sons, James Healy of Fort Worth, TX and Thomas Healy III of Pawling, NY; a grandson, Matthew Goodacre of Millerton and three granddaughters, Tanya McClory and her husband Sean of Denton, TX, Cynthia Healy of Fort Worth and Olivia Healy of Lincoln, NE; two sisters, Anne Marie Enright, a longtime resident of both Hyde Park and Stanfordville, NY and Agnes Hess of Claverack, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Kevin Healy and her daughter, Patricia Healy Goodacre.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at  37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY. Rev. Kent Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton.
