Two Poughkeepsie residents arrested following welfare check

Poughkeepsie, New York – On April 12, 2017, at approximately 1:30 a.m., New York State Police from SP Poughkeepsie conducted a welfare check on the occupants of a Nissan stopped on the shoulder of Dutchess Turnpike with hazards lights illuminated.

While interviewing the vehicle’s occupants, 21-year-old Jada E. Christiani, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Christian Parker, 22 years old, of Poughkeepsie, New York, Troopers detected an odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle.  Subsequent to a lawful search of the vehicle, Troopers discovered an Armscor revolver.  Neither party possessed a permit to carry a handgun.

Both occupants of the vehicle were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. They were issued appearance tickets directing them to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on April 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
