DCC to Host Screenings of ‘Fences’

 

April 5, 2017 – Dutchess Community College this month will host four screenings of “Fences” at its Poughkeepsie campus followed by faculty-led discussions about the film.

The movie will be shown April 20 at 12:30 and 5 p.m. in Taconic Hall, room 103, and April 21 at noon and 4 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre in Dutchess Hall. All are free and open to the public.

The film stars Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, who took home a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance. It is adapted from the August Wilson play and addresses the role of black men in American society and the barriers, both real and imagined, to their upward mobility.
