Obituary, Eileen G. Plenge

 

Eileen G. Plenge, 90, a long-time resident of Pawling, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, NY.

Born in Manhattan on April 14, 1926, she was one of four children born to the late John and Gertrude (Bishel) Plenge, and she graduated from St. Acquinas High School in the Bronx in 1943.

In 1983 she retired from N.Y. Telephone where she worked as an assistant engineer.  She was past president of the Westchester Telephone Pioneers of America, and belonged to a White Plains bowling league.

Eileen is survived by her sister, Dorothy Plenge, also of Pawling; her cousins Alice Booth, Fred Bishel, Arlene Knapp, Patty Byrnes, Val and daughters Sarah & Delilah Romasanta, Douglas Plenge, Mary Bishel, Deborah Jackson, Dawn Escribano, and Albert Bishel; and her good friends Janet & Joe Sullivan, Marge Gogarty, Ann Stephens, and Tim & Barbara McSpeden.

In addition to her parents, Eileen is predeceased by her brother William and sister Grace Gilleen, and cousin Grace Romasanta.

Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East main Street, Pawling Sunday, March 26th 2-4 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Eileen may be made to St. John’s Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling, NY 12564 or the Telephone Pioneers of America.

The family would like to thank all their friends who have given help and support over the years, especially Janet and Joe Sullivan.  They would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Putnam hospital for the excellent care Eileen received while in the hospital.
