The 2017-2018 school year calendar is now available!  The first day of classes is Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

WANTED! Used Eyeglasses. Help many people in need and do a great deed! Drop your used eyeglasses in good condition in the brightly colored donation box in the Carmel high School main office! This collection is by CHS students for their AP English class project.
 
Consider a donation to a toy drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House–a charity that helps families with children battling cancer. To make a donation visit https://www.gofundme.com/uz4qh-toy-drive Your donations will go towards a toy drive that will be brought to the childrens center by the beginning of May. This collection is by CHS students for their AP English class project.

Kindergarten registration takes place on Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 from 9:30-11:30am at the school your child will attend. Children who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2017 are eligible to register for September classes. For additional info, contact the school your child will attend.

The CHS Music Production Workshop proudly presents “Once Upon a Mattress,” March 24 at 7pm, March 25 at 2pm & 7pm and March 26 at 2pm. All performances are at GFMS. Transportation requests for private/parochial school or childcare for the 2017-2018 school year must be in writing and are due by April 3, 2017 to the CCSD Transportation Office, 1099 Rt. 52, Carmel, NY 10512. Request forms are available on the Transportation website.
 
Two seats are up for election for the Board of Education this year (currently held by Tara DeTurris and Heyam Nesheiwat). Seats are for 3 year terms beginning July 1, 2017. Nomination packets are now available. Petitions must be received by the District Clerk (Sue Dieck) by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17. The Westchester Putnam School Boards Association invites prospective candidates to a free workshop on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 7-9:15pm, at Pleasantville High School in the Library, 60 Romer Ave. Pleasantville. Get in on the foundation of the Carmel Rams Booster Club Buy-A-Brick fundraiser! Your donation will purchase a brick in the patio area to be created at the bottom of the driveway leading to the CHS turf field. Your inscription will be a permanent tribute to your family, class or favorite Ram athlete or faculty member. Bricks are $100 for 4″x8″ or $250 for 8″x8″, with proceeds to help fund new scoreboard for the field and a Senior Athlete Recognition program. SCIENCE RESEARCH CLASS NEWS:
1. Applications for the 2017 Cohort Class are now available on the CHS Science Research website. and the CHS Guidance office. Completed applications are due to Ms. Monaco by Wednesday, April 26.
2. Seeking individuals to represent CHS at the Somers Science Fair on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1-4pm at Somers High School, Lincolndale, NY. Interested individuals can apply through the CHS Science Research website.
3. Seeking individuals to participate as subjects in students’ research projects. Participate in a study through the CHS Science Research website.
The Junior Class pre-prom parent meeting will take place on Monday, March 27 at 7 pmin the CHS Gym.
 
The Carmel Teachers’ Association Scholarship is now available on naviance. The application must be submitted no later than April 7, 2017 at 2:00pm. Return completed application to Mrs. Jeanine Blum in room 224. Scholarships will be awarded from one of the following categories: Academic Merit, School/Community Service, and Financial Need.
Putnam County Youth Forum–Monday, April 4 at Clearpool Education Center, Kent. About 150 students, representing every Putnam high school participate in a series of workshops with topics of concern/interest to youth. Interested students should contact their guidance office for details.

Family Fun Night is TONIGHT, Friday, March 10 from 7-9pm at GFMS. Fun-filled basketball game where 5/6 teachers play 7/8 teachers. Some basketball players from the middle school also participate. Tickets are $5/pp and will be sold at the door. Refreshments and spirit wear will be sold as well.
GFMS Physicals will take place on Tuesday, March 14. Students should visit the nurse’s office before March 14 to sign up.
7th & 8th grade students: Learn Heart Saver CPR and get training for AED through the American Heart Association. Next session is March 15 from 2:30pm to 5:00pm. $10/pp.

Kent Primary School News
Support the 4th grade class! Purchase raffle tickets for items donated from around the community. Items include toy baskets, bikes and gift certificates. Find the order form on Peachjar and in your child’s backpack. Send cash or checks payable to KPSPTO. Envelopes should be marked “4th Grade Class.” Due March 17.
 
KPS PTO 10th Annual Talent Show is Friday, May 19, 2017 at GFMS at 6:30pm. Get your act together–Act Review Night is April 20. Acts can be large or small. First 32 acts submitted are accepted. Grades K-4. Check Peachjar and your child’s backpack for forms.

PATTERSON RECREATION PROGRAMS
1. Guitar Lessons: 10 week program on Tuesday nights starting March 14. Beginner 1 for 7-11 year olds; Beginner 2 for 12 and up. Acoustic, electric or electric bass guitars welcome. Cost is $100.
2. Adult Sports Programs:  Basketball teams forming for the Spring League. Games played on Sunday evenings. There is a ten team limit and each team needs at least six players. Nine game season PLUS play-offs. Season begins Sunday, April 9. Cost is $130/pp and includes a team shirt.
