Troopers Arrest Teenager for Operating Stolen Vehicle

PRESS RELEASE

On March 6, 2017 Troopers from the Liberty barracks stopped a 2015 Jeep on Route 17 in the Town of Rockland for traffic violations.  A computer check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Syracuse Police Department on March 5th.  Operating the vehicle was Shyquest Powell, age 16 of Syracuse.

Powell was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, a felony.  Powell was arraigned in the Town of Rockland Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
