Obituary, Helen M. Redmond

Helen M. Redmond of Sherman, CT and Naples, FL, passed away in Naples on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at the age of 79.

She was born in Manhattan, NY, daughter of the late Francis and Lillian (Cox) Rudden from County Fermanagh and County Roscommon, Ireland, respectively. She was raised in Gerritsen Beach and graduated from Catherine McAuley H.S. in Brooklyn, NY in 1956. She met Bernard “Brian” Redmond at a church social at The Resurrection Church in Brooklyn, NY where they later married.   Mrs. Redmond was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Sherman, CT and St. Ann Church in Naples, FL.

In addition to her devoted husband Brian, Mrs. Redmond is survived by her three adoring sons; Brian Redmond Jr. of New Fairfield, Joseph Redmond (Sheryl) of Denver, NC, and Kevin Redmond (Maureen) of Ridgefield, CT, two loving daughters; Sheila Kern (Kevin) of Chester, NY and Kathleen Caldwell (Harold) of Scarborough, ME and her grandchildren Joey, Bridget, Helen, Jane, Kevin, Megan and Kristen. She was predeceased by her brother John Rudden.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church in Sherman, CT where we will celebrate her entrance into eternal life. We will be honoring her not in typical black mourning suits but instead with sequin and glitter which was her favorite attire and fashion accessory and which reflected her effervescent and eternally optimistic personality and perspective on life.  Interment will follow in Coburn Cemetery in Sherman, CT. Calling hours will be held Tuesday March 7, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.
