Obituary, Mark R. Gilmore

 

 

Mark R. Gilmore suddenly passed away on March 1, 2017 at the age of 54. He was born on January 12, 1963 in Delhi, NY to John B. and Sheila (Brennan) Gilmore. Mark was a graduate of Delaware Academy High School and of the FBI National Academy in 2009. Mark was a distinguished member of the Sheriff’s Office throughout his career of more than 28 years. He served as a correction officer, deputy sheriff, sergeant and, most recently, as the Senior Investigator in charge of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit. He was a member of the Emergency Response Team and was a motorcycle officer, and was the recipient of several Letters of Commendation and Unit Citations during his career. He also formerly served in the U.S. Army Reserve. On October 24th, 1992 he married the love of his life Amy VanDerwerker in Ballston Spa, NY. Mark loved riding his Harley, going out on his boat and fishing, his dogs, and was a devoted Yankee and Giant’s fan. He also cherished the time he was able to spend surrounding himself with his family, especially his beloved daughter Mattie.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Amy Gilmore; their daughter Mattingly Gilmore. He is also survived by his father John B. Gilmore (Eve) his brother John B.Gilmore Jr. (Karee) and his sister Cynthia Teddy (James); brother in-law Bill VanDerwerker (Stacey) and his mother in-law Ann VanDerwerker. Mark is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 6th at Cargain Funeral Homes from 2-4 and 7-9. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 7th at the funeral home at 11 AM.
