Liberty Troopers Make Burglary Arrest

On February 8th, 2017 Troopers from the Liberty barracks responded to a report of a residential burglary in the Town of Delaware.  A homeowner reported to police that their home had been broken into and that valuables had been removed.  An investigation determined that Kyle J. Smith, age 25 of Kenoza Lake was responsible for the crime.  He was arrested on February 23, 2017.  Upon his arrest, a search warrant was executed at his residence resulting in the recovery of many of the stolen pieces of property.

Smith was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, a felony.  He was arraigned in the Town of Delaware Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail set.  Smith is currently on parole for a previous burglary conviction.  State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
