Kindergarten registration takes place on Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 from 9:30-11:30am at the school your child will attend. Children who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2017 are eligible to register for September classes. For additional info, contact the school your child will attend.
 
Two seats are up for election for the Board of Education this year (currently held by Tara DeTurris and Heyam Nesheiwat). Seats are for 3 year terms beginning July 1, 2017. Jostens will be back at CHS on Wednesday, March 1 to take orders for caps and gowns. If you have not placed an order, please do so on Wednesday. Spring Sport Physicals will be done for high school athletes interested in participating in a Spring sport on Tuesday, March 7. Athletes must schedule an appointment with the school nurse prior to March 7.

SCIENCE RESEARCH CLASS NEWS:
1. Applications for the 2017 Cohort Class are now available on the CHS Science Research website. and the CHS Guidance office. Completed applications are due to Ms. Monaco by Wednesday, April 26.
2. Seeking individuals to represent CHS at the Somers Science Fair on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1-4pm at Somers High School, Lincolndale, NY. Interested individuals can apply through the CHS Science Research website.
3. Seeking individuals to participate as subjects in students’ research projects. Participate in a study through the CHS Science Research website.
CORRECTION TO LAST WEEK’S CALENDAR CHANGE: The Junior Class pre-prom parent meeting has NOT BEEN CHANGED–it will take place on Monday, March 27 at 7 pm in the CHS Gym.
 
The Carmel Teachers’ Association Scholarship is now available on naviance. The application must be submitted no later than April 7, 2017 at 2:00pm. Return completed application to Mrs. Jeanine Blum in room 224. Scholarships will be awarded from one of the following categories: Academic Merit, School/Community Service, and Financial Need.

Timeline: 8:30-9:30am–set up in the gym. 9:30-11–Judging (students only). 11-12–fair is open to the public and parents. 12-12:45–awards ceremony in the auditorium. GFMS PTA is excited to introduce the inaugural Career Day for 8th grade students on Friday, May 5. This is an opportunity to expose students to a wide variety of occupations. KEPTO is hosting a Penny Social on Saturday, March 11 at KES. Doors open at 4:30pm, drawing starts at 6:00pm. Looking for KES parent volunteers to help organize the event. The KEPTO is also asking for donations of new and like-new items for the event. The KPSPTO is hosting a Meet & Greet for parents and the KPSPTO Executive Board on Wednesday, March 1 at 9:30am at KPS. Have ideas, comments, questions or suggestions? SHERIFF’S CAMP
The Putnam County Youth Bureau and the Putnam County Sheriff’s department are recruiting 16 youth between the ages of 9-12 years old to attend The New York State Sheriff’s camp.
