Obituary, Claire F. Wheeler

 

 

RED HOOK – Claire F. Wheeler, 92, passed away on Feb. 15, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Allan S. Wheeler. Loving mother of Allan W. Wheeler and Lois Sullivan. Cherished grandmother of Shannon Factor, Lisa Wheeler, Tara Sullivan, Kristen Wheeler and Allan D. Wheeler; great-grandmother of David Factor, Patrick Gieseler, Sean Gieseler, Kerry Murphy, and Daniel Murphy. In addition to her husband, Claire was predeceased by her granddaughter, Daina Wheeler; and her siblings, Thomas Ward, William Ashton, and Anne Keenan. Claire, affectionately known as “Auntie Claire” or “DSG (Dear Sweet Grandmother)”, was a graduate of the Pine Plains school district and she continued to go to her class reunions until she grew ill. She was a member and a teacher at the Jackson Corners Grange for many years. She worked in payroll at De Laval in Poughkeepsie for many years. She loved dancing to live music with her late husband, Allan. She enjoyed traveling and had been to Europe, Asia, Central America and Africa as well as sailing on the QE2. Claire loved her family and being with her relatives was the center of her life. She was loved by anyone that was lucky enough to have been part of her life. We will celebrate her life Sunday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. at 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook, N.Y. Funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Interment will be private at Vedder’s Cemetery in Gallatin, N.Y.
