Kerhonkson Woman Arrested for Assault

The New York State Police at Ellenville announce the arrest of Maria L. Murphy, age 21, from Kerhonkson, NY for Assault in the Second Degree, a Felony.
On February 11, 2017 Members of SP Ellenville responded to Ellenville Regional Hospital for a reported victim of a stab wound.
Initial investigation appeared the victim may have accidentally stabbed himself, but after conducting neighborhood interviews at the victims residence in the Town of Rochester, it was determined there was a domestic incident between the victim and Maria L. Murphy.
Further investigation revealed the victim was assaulted by his girlfriend, Maria L. Murphy with a carving knife as a result of a verbal argument, which escalated.
On February 12, 2017 Maria L. Murphy was arrested for Assault 2nd Degree and arraigned in front of Town of Rochester Town Justice Paul Shaheen, who released Murphy on her own recognizance and ordered her to reappear in the Town of Rochester Court on 02/15/17 at 5:00 p.m.
