Super Bowl Sunday Fixed Sobriety Checkpoint Yields Arrest

PRESS RELEASE

 

On Sunday, February 5, 2017, members of Troop K, Zone One conducted a Fixed Sobriety Checkpoint in the vicinity of the RipVan Winkle Bridge, in the T/Greenport, Columbia County.  At approximately 8:40pm, Kellie L. Wyant, 48 years of age, of Ghent, NY , passed through the roadcheck.  Upon being interviewed by Troopers, Ms. Wyant showed signs of impairment. Roadside sobriety tests were administered which Ms. Wyant could not perform.  She was taken into custody and transported to SP Livingston for processing.  She was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and was subsequently found to be impaired by drugs.  A blood sample was secured.  Ms. Wyant was issued Appearance Tickets for Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, returnable 2/15/17, in the T/Greenport Justice Court.
