Obituary, Joan Marie Langlois

 

Joan Marie Langlois, 82, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and formerly of Malone, passed away on January 19, 2017 while under the care of The Elderly Aristocrat of Las Vegas. She had been a patient there since January 16, 2017. She had been residing with her daughter, Lynn.

She was born July 14, 1934 in Malone, the oldest of eleven children of the late Alfred and Gladys Williams Debyah. She was married to Donald Langlois on December 27, 1952. That marriage ended in divorce.

She is survived by her six children, Stephen of Malone, Carol (Tim) Rose of Las Vegas, Nevada, Judy (Charles) Pfister of Pawling, New York, Lynn of Las Vegas, Donald (Elaine) of Racine, Wisconsin, and Elizabeth Young of Waldorf, Maryland. She loved her family and was very proud of them.

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Katherine Langlois, Gladys Ashley, Kevin Rinehart, Eric Rinehart, Tricia Pfister, Magen Pfister, Skyler Young, and Gordon and Evan Schermer.

Her great-grandchildren are: Damie, Deonna and Thomas Williams, Reily, Chase, and Ethan Rinehart, Savanna and Brendan Rinehart, Ethan and Aryanna Hayes, and Amirah Allen.

Her siblings are: Janet Mayville of Crescent City, Florida, Phyllis (Joe) Santamore of Malone, Jim (Ethel) Debyah of Constable, Donald Debyah of Holtville, California, Douglas Debyah of Burke, Robert (Bonnie) Debyah of Casper, Wyoming, Gary (Kay) Debyah of Malone, Kay Tompkins of Constable, Keith (Yvonne Davis) of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Nancy Hutchins of Malone.

Besides her parents and all of her aunts and uncles, she was predeceased by nephews Dale and Gordon Wood, a niece and her husband Sandra and George Brown, and two sisters-in-law Barbara and Gloria Debyah. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

For many years, Joan was a hard working stay at home mom while her children were young. She was a cook at Diamanti’s Restaurant in Poughquag, New York for a number of years and then worked and retired from Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, New York.

Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, knitting, and gardening. She loved feeding and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds.

At Joan’s request, there is no wake. There will be a memorial mass on February 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assissi Church in Constable. Burial will be at a later date and at the convenience of the family.
