State Police from the Dover Plains barracks arrest North East man following sex abuse investigation

Dover Plains, New York – On January 30, 2017, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Dover Plains arrested 21-year-old Kristian Murtagh of the Town of North East, New York, and charged him with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor and two counts of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor.The arrest stems from an investigation into a report that Murtagh, a volunteer coach at the Webutuck High School in the Town of North East, had engaged in sexual contact with a 16-year-old student of the school.

Murtagh was arraigned in the Town of North East Court by the Honorable Judge McCabe and released on his own recognizance. Murtagh is scheduled to return to the Town of North East Court on February 28, 2017, at 6:00 PM. The Honorable Judge McCabe issued an Order of Protection ordering him to refrain from all contact with the victim and the school.
