The Dover Plains Library Receives Grants

The Dover Plains Library Received an Outreach Grant in 2016!

The Dover Plains Library was selected by the Mid-Hudson Library System to receive a $1200 grant for Kindle Paperwhites to be circulated—with a special interest in serving the active senior population in the community.  The grant money was provided by New York State.  The Dover Library was one of 12 recipients of the $1200 Outreach Grant; applications were available to all 66 libraries in the system.

The Kindles have been pre-loaded with bestsellers, but special requests for specific books are also being accepted.

One-on-one tutoring is available.  There is a $25 refundable security deposit, payable by cash or check.  The loan period is 3 weeks.

Additional $6000 in funding to the Dover Plains Library

The Dover Plains Library received a generous additional $6000 dollars in bullet aid in late 2016.

The Board of Trustees has decided to make use of the funding to upgrade the library’s public computers from the current Windows XP’s to newer Windows 10 Touch Screen PCs.  The computers should arrive in early to mid-February.

Windows 7 stopped being supported by Microsoft in early 2015, and Windows XP lost its support long before that.  The new computers will have Microsoft Office 365, which means we will always be able to offer patrons the newest version of Office.

The library is located at 1797 Route 22, Wingdale, NY 12594— at the intersection of County Route 21 and State Route 22.
